Vence is a walled historic town backed against the Baous — the limestone cliffs that close the valley to the north. The inner town is pedestrian, organised around Place du Peyra and the cathedral: the drop-off is at the gates in the ramparts, most often at Place du Grand Jardin. The main reason people come is the Rosary Chapel, decorated by Matisse, on the edge of town on the road to Saint-Jeannet. Around it, residential districts and country houses spread over the hills, with narrow lanes and minimal signage. The climb from Cagnes-sur-Mer is steady but slow, which is why twenty-three kilometres to the airport take half an hour. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is five minutes away.

Thirty minutes, by the A8 then the climb from Cagnes-sur-Mer. The gradient is steady but slow, which explains the gap with the twenty-three kilometres shown. The drop-off is at Place du Grand Jardin or a gate in the ramparts, the inner town being pedestrian. For the Rosary Chapel, it is the Saint-Jeannet road.

At Place du Grand Jardin or one of the gates in the ramparts, depending on your address. Inside, the town is pedestrian with narrow lanes: a few minutes remain on foot, on the level.
Yes, the two villages are four kilometres apart. On half-day hourly hire you see both plus the Matisse chapel without booking three separate journeys.
Yes. The lanes are narrow and poorly signposted: give the lane name and, if possible, the name of the house. That is what saves the driver circling the hills.
