Saint-Raphaël-Valescure is the station for the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, even though it is forty kilometres away. It is the last TGV stop before a territory with no railway at all: Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle and Port-Grimaud are reached only by road. The result is that this station concentrates a considerable flow of travellers every summer, stepping off with their luggage and looking for transport for the remaining fifty minutes — a good deal more at the height of the season. The station is in the town centre, two minutes from the Old Port, with adequate vehicle access that saturates when TGV services arrive. A precise meeting point is therefore useful. From the station, Fréjus is ten minutes away, Sainte-Maxime half an hour, Cannes forty minutes and Nice Airport fifty-five.

Yes, it is the useful rail terminus: the gulf has no station. About forty kilometres remain by road, roughly fifty minutes outside high season and appreciably more in July and August.
Should I book ahead in summer?
Strongly advised. TGV arrivals bring many travellers out at once and local transport saturates. A booked journey waits for you, at a known price.
Where does the driver wait?
